  5. Please report any accidental damage or breakages so replacement can be arranged.
  6. Groups with children are welcome, preferably at times of the year when the hut is not busy. The hut has many potential hazards for small children who must always be closely supervised by their parent or carer. Such groups must comply with Mountaineering Scotland’s Child Protection guidelines.
  7. No camping (including campervans) is allowed on hut grounds.
  8. No animals (excepting guide dogs) are allowed inside the hut or its grounds. The surrounding farm has free ranging cattle and sheep. Please ensure the gate is kept shut.

Fire Safety

  1. The possible consequences of any fire are very serious, especially taking into account the remote location of the hut. Please ensure you read all fire safety information provided and communicate this to all members of your group.
  2. As well as the name and membership number of the person booking, the names of all members of the group should be added to the hut register on arrival, to allow a roll call in the event of a fire evacuation.
  3. No smoking, fires or BBQs are permitted in the hut or grounds (there is a large LPG tank).
  4. There are no facilities for charging electric vehicles or e-bikes etc. In the interests of the safety of the hut and its occupants, do not attempt to run a cable to the outside from the hut. Do not store or charge e-bikes or their batteries inside or even under the wooden porch.
  5. When charging phones, torches etc you must use the correct charger and cable and place on a well-ventilated surface. Do not leave devices charging overnight or unattended.

Courtesy and common sense

  1. Please respect the privacy of the Glen Brittle community and keep noise to a minimum, particularly at night.
  2. Use the car park if possible. This is limited in size so consider car sharing.
  3. Always keep the gate shut. Grazing stock will enter at any opportunity and leave a mess.
  4. When parking outwith any car park on Skye please take care to avoid blocking access to farm vehicles, emergency vehicles etc.
  5. When the hut is unoccupied, it should be securely locked and the key left in the key safe.
  6. Please notify the bookings secretary of any accidents, problems etc at the earliest opportunity.
  7. To ensure a smooth changeover between groups, please vacate the hut by 1200 and do not arrive before 1500.
  8. Please leave the hut clean and tidy for the next visitors. Cleaning instructions are displayed inside/will be sent to you as part of the booking process.
  9. We value any feedback following your visit and welcome suggestions as to how we might improve any aspect of the hut.
