Terms & Conditions of Booking

Use of the hut is dependent on strict adherence to the following booking conditions:-

General

  1. Hut fees are £22 (18 years and over) £11 (under 18) per person per night.
  2. The person making the booking is responsible for ensuring full compliance with all Terms & Conditions outlined below and should ensure that all members of their group are familiar with them.
  3. This also applies to any other instructions or requests eg cleaning prior to departure which may be displayed in the hut or notified by the bookings secretary.
  4. The person booking (and their club if appropriate) will be held responsible for any damage to building or contents resulting from misuse.
  5. Please report any accidental damage or breakages so replacement can be arranged.
  6. Groups with children are welcome, preferably at times of the year when the hut is not busy. The hut has many potential hazards for small children who must always be closely supervised by their parent or carer. Such groups must comply with Mountaineering Scotland’s Child Protection guidelines.
  7. No camping (including campervans) is allowed on hut grounds.
  8. No animals (excepting guide dogs) are allowed inside the hut or its grounds. The surrounding farm has free ranging cattle and sheep. Please ensure the gate is kept shut.

Booking

  1. Use of the hut is strictly by advanced booking through the bookings secretary.
  2. The person making the booking must be an individual or affiliated club member of Mountaineering Scotland or BMC and must quote their membership number when booking and when signing the hut register.
  3. The size and composition of the group must not exceed the number booked with the bookings secretary.
  4. The maximum permitted stay is 8 days.
  5. Online bookings will be acknowledged by the bookings secretary. Full fees for all booked places are payable 12 weeks prior to arrival and are non refundable. In the event this deadline is missed we reserve the right to remove your reservation from the online bookings calendar and those places will then become available to others. Bookings made within 12 weeks of arrival must be paid for in full within five days of acknowledgement by the bookings secretary.
  6. In the event of an increase in hut fees after a booking is confirmed, the original fees agreed will still apply.

Fire Safety

  1. The possible consequences of any fire are very serious, especially taking into account the remote location of the hut. Please ensure you read all fire safety information provided and communicate this to all members of your group.
  2. As well as the name and membership number of the person booking, the names of all members of the group should be added to the hut register on arrival, to allow a roll call in the event of a fire evacuation.
  3. No smoking, fires or BBQs are permitted in the hut or grounds (there is a large LPG tank).
  4. There are no facilities for charging electric vehicles or e-bikes etc. In the interests of the safety of the hut and its occupants, do not attempt to run a cable to the outside from the hut. Do not store or charge e-bikes or their batteries inside or even under the wooden porch.
  5. When charging phones, torches etc you must use the correct charger and cable and place on a well-ventilated surface. Do not leave devices charging overnight or unattended.

Courtesy and common sense

  1. Please respect the privacy of the Glen Brittle community and keep noise to a minimum, particularly at night.
  2. Use the car park if possible. This is limited in size so consider car sharing.
  3. Always keep the gate shut. Grazing stock will enter at any opportunity and leave a mess.
  4. When parking outwith any car park on Skye please take care to avoid blocking access to farm vehicles, emergency vehicles etc.
  5. When the hut is unoccupied, it should be securely locked and the key left in the key safe.
  6. Please notify the bookings secretary of any accidents, problems etc at the earliest opportunity.
  7. To ensure a smooth changeover between groups, please vacate the hut by 1200 and do not arrive before 1500.
  8. Please leave the hut clean and tidy for the next visitors. Cleaning instructions are displayed inside/will be sent to you as part of the booking process.
  9. We value any feedback following your visit and welcome suggestions as to how we might improve any aspect of the hut.

Data Protection

We collect and store personal details such as names and contact details  solely for the purpose of managing your booking. This information will never be used for any other purpose.

The Glen Brittle Memorial Hut Trustees hope you enjoy your stay.
