Alex MacIntyre Memorial Hut

The Alex MacIntyre Memorial Hut is held in trust jointly by Mountaineering Scotland and the BMC.

It’s situated at North Ballachulish and can sleep 16 people.

It is available for the use of Mountaineering Scotland and British Mountaineering Council affiliated clubs, and individual members. 

Location 

North Ballachulish on A82, one mile north of the Ballachulish Bridge, 50 m from the entrance to the Creag Mhor Hotel, OS Map no 41, Grid Ref 044 612. The car park is at the rear of the building and is accessed from the main road via a narrow lane – see picture.

Accommodation

Beds for 16 divided between 5 rooms (2 with alpine platforms, the rest with single beds), mattresses provided. It is not possible to book a particular room or bed.

Terms & Conditions of Booking

Important: Please note that we do not offer a 24 hour booking service. While bookings can be made online at short notice, payment is normally required one month in advance. It cannot be guaranteed that there will be an immediate response to online bookings made at short notice.

Bookings are accepted for accommodation at the Alex MacIntyre Memorial Hut on the following conditions.

Eligibility to use the hut

  • Only clubs and individual members affiliated to Mountaineering Scotland or the British Mountaineering Council may use the hut. Each club or individual member is allowed to bring one guest only. 
  • With the exception of assistance dogs, no dogs or other pets are allowed within the building.

Booking the entire hut

  • A club may book all 16 places if available. However, in the event that a club or group reserves all places and has prepaid but finds it has unfilled places during the period booked then those places should be made available to individual members of Mountaineering Scotland or BMC wanting accommodation on the day. The latter should book online and make payment to AMMH by bank transfer, not to the club or group providing the places.

Booking by individuals

  • Individuals, whether individual members of Mountaineering Scotland or the BMC or club members of either, can reserve a place, subject to availability. Each individual may bring one guest, again subject to availability.

Bookings including young persons under 18

  • Parents with their children under 18 or adults acting in loco parentis with young persons under 18 can stay at the hut provided they are comfortable with the sharing arrangements. Parents with their children or adults acting in loco parentis with young persons who are not willing to share the premises with strangers can, if they so choose, book and pay for all the places at the hut.
